Jess and Justin met on a tennis court at NC State University. They played mixed doubles against each other and all four players exchanged phone numbers to play again sometime.

Justin and Jess went on their first date to Gonza Tacos and Videri Chocolate Factory in Raleigh, NC. They sang together, talking and laughing late into the night.

Justin asked Jess to be his girlfriend in December, but Jess said no. But upon returning to Raleigh from Christmas break, Jess created a scavenger hunt for Justin saying she had been a fool and that if he'll still have her, she would love to start their adventure together.

On a trip to Charleston, SC, Justin first told Jess he loves her and Jess burst into happy tears before she replied in turn.

Justin surprised Jess with a hike in Linville Gorge, NC... and then surprised her again by asking her to marry him! (More happy tears obviously ensued.) Justin had managed to pack an entire bottle of champagne and some orange juice so they could enjoy mimosas while admiring the view.
