Our favorite beach and where we got engaged! Hang out on the beach, search for shark teeth, or take a stroll down the pier. Parking is free along the side streets. You can also drive down to the Morris Island Lighthouse and walk the eclectic path to the beach, which is stunning at sunset.
Explore local crafts, souvenirs, and food in the heart of downtown. There's also a separate night market on Fridays & Saturdays.
Home to the famous pineapple fountain. Walking distance to the City Market and Rainbow Row.
A great place to spend a few hours and learn about local wildlife! Jess volunteered here as an aquarist while attending grad school.
A great place to walk along the water and watch boats go by. Also home to some popular restaurants and bars. We love Red's and Saltwater Cowboys for a casual meal.
Another great beach to enjoy, with some fantastic restaurants on the main street!
If you're a history buff, check out this museum which is entirely aboard the retired USS Yorktown. The ship also offers great views of the Charleston Harbor. Jess worked here as a marine science educator, running field trips for kids all across South Carolina!
Charleston is known for its many waterways, and we highly recommend exploring them! From renting a kayak to taking a sunset sail, there's an option for everyone.
