Jeske & Christian were both home from college for the winter holiday break in 2016. Jeske was visiting Palos Verdes, where her college friend lived, to spend some time together and look at Christmas lights. While spending the day, they met up with some of her high school friends to go bowling and Christian was amongst the group. As the night unfolded, strikes and bumpers became the backdrop to their banter. Christian didn't want the night to end and extended the evening by suggesting they go hit golf balls off a cliff & then go back to his house to hot tub. Around 2 am Shawn (Christian's dad) finally kicked everyone out. Jeske reached out to Christian through their mutual friend and thus started the modern day courting of flirting over snapchat & video calls as they returned to their respective colleges.

It was the first day of Christian and Jeske's two week vacation through Europe. Christian had booked a private boat tour to the small island of Capri, off the coast of Naples, Italy. As the boat was approaching, Christian secretly sent a message to the boat driver (in Italian using Google Translate) that he was planning to propose on the boat and was looking for advice on the best location to do so; and wanted to get some sort of signal setup for when the driver feels it is the best time to ask the big question. The driver responded 'OK OK'... which did NOT give Christian confidence that he understood his critical role in this assignment! As they traveled to different parts of the island and beautiful cliffs, the boat driver announced they were approaching the famous Faraglioni rocks and gave Christian a subtle tap on the shoulder. Christian knew this was the moment, passed his phone to the boat driver for a 'quick photo' and got down on a knee and asked the most important question of his life: "Will you marry me?" to which she said YES! As if it was pulled right out of a movie, a family on a boat tour behind the happy couple captured the entire thing on film AND ended up at the same restaurant for lunch thereafter to exchange information. Christian and Jeske continued on the rest of their picture perfect European vacation, knowing that they will spend the rest of their lives together.
