The Vista House was built in 1917 on one of the most beautiful scenic points on the Historic Columbia River Highway. It was constructed to provide travelers a place to rest and refresh themselves as they made their way down the magnificent Columbia River Gorge.
If you are interested in getting up a mountain during your time here, this is a great place to go as it sits on the shoulder of one of the most iconic peaks, Mt. Hood! The lodge has a variety of bars, restaurants and other fun things to enjoy! Fun fact: The movie "The Shining" was filmed the outside of Timberline Lodge. If you have never seen the movie, watch it before you go!
This trail is about 25 minutes south of Downtown Hood River (if you go, you might as well go all the way to Mt. Hood/Timberline Lodge too). We have gotten word from a few who have gone that it is a pretty easy hike with big waterfall payoff!
We visited this adorable family run vineyard on the way back from Mt. Hood/Timberline Lodge! This is a great, relaxing, low-key option with a more one-on-one experience with the people who make the magic happen! (and they have llamas...nbd)
Gabe's face says it all - the pretzel was REDIC (he was also watching the Gator game...). Although we didn't order lunch here, the burger looked delish. For my lager ladies (or those not on the more adventurous side of beer), the Session lager is probably my favorite beer in Hood River!
LOLOL - but this is a super cool spot as well for lunch or just a quick drink on the way to the next stop. Located in DownTown Hood River!
This (and a few others on this list) are basically within walking distance in Downtown Hood river. Worth doing a "bar crawl" of sorts depending on when you arrive and how long you are staying!
