Jes and Alec's paths have interwoven long before they fell in love. They have run in the same pack for years, JUST missing each other at many different events in the Mitten on their visits home (Alec was stationed overseas, and Jes was finding herself in nature somewhere). It wasn't until their best friends got married that their lives would truly become entwined. Alec was the best man and Jes was the maid of honor at their best friends' wedding in 2018, in the same magical forest where they plan to celebrate their own marriage! When Covid hit, Jes and Alec both rang up their besties and planned an epic sleepover which turned into the four of them living together for almost a year! What began as a beautiful friendship amidst a time of growth and reflection, blossomed into the fairytale love story they both had been searching for. The moment they fell in love, adventure was at their door. From camping trips to concerts and festivals, to becoming aunts and uncles, they dove in head first and never looked back. Being the adventurous spirits they are, they embarked upon a two month road trip down the east coast, during which time it became crystal clear that they were meant to spend the rest of their lives together. They are so excited to celebrate the next chapter of their lives with you in September!

On their one year anniversary, Alec took Jes out for a night on the town in their favorite city - Detroit! They stayed at the Shinola Hotel and Alec had something up his sleeve. Jes, thinking it was a surprise dinner of epic proportions, dressed in her stretchy dress and Vans tennis shoes ready to trek through town to their dinner spot. When they pulled into a small Detroit airport, she knew something was up but would not admit to herself what might be happening. In a love-drunk bliss, they both stumbled into a helicopter flown by a USMC veteran. The boys chatted away while Jes's face was glued to the window, ooh-ing and ahhh-ing as they soared over Belle Isle. Next thing you know, Alec had a ring in front of her and asked her to marry him! The helicopter took a wide turn over the Detroit River as Alec's shaky hands reached for the ring, knowing if he fumbled, into the river it would go. Jes, shrieking in excitement and adrenaline rushing through her veins, exclaimed, "YES!" When they landed, they couldn't wait to make the most memorable, happy phone calls to their friends and families proclaiming their love for each other and their excitement to start their next epic journey together. The champagne was flowing, the sun was setting over the city skyline, and slow dances to their favorite records filled their night. It was the most magical moment of their lives.
