During her junior year of high school, Julia attended a Minot State hockey game at the Maysa Arena where she met Jersey, a freshman in college. They didn’t talk much, and there was nothing to signal how important that moment would one day become, but they unknowingly met the person they would spend forever with. Where it truly began came a little later on Julia’s 18th birthday. Jersey sent her a message on Twitter, taking a chance, but Julia, being a high schooler with zero interest in a college boy, ignored it (a decision she now fully admits was a mistake). Almost a year later, Julia started her college journey at Minot State University. Ironically, it didn’t take long for her to develop an interest in someone familiar, and suddenly that college guy didn’t seem like such a bad idea (funny how that works). Exactly one year after his unanswered message, right around Julia’s birthday, she finally reached out. As of January 2026, Jersey and Julia have spent nine years together, proving that sometimes ignoring someone first is just part of the love story and what is meant for you will always find you.
