Jerry and Sarah met in 6th grade english class and had a few classes together throughout middle school, but didn't really become friends until high school. Their friend groups merged and got closer, but were just friends. Their friendship even survived Sarah's "surfer girl" blonde hair phase and Jerry's bowl cut. Sophomore year they took a stab at dating (if you can even call it that). Sarah broke up with Jerry after a long relationship of almost three months... and he was relieved. Fast forward to senior year, they weren't dating, but never stopped texting or talking to each other. Eventually, they figured it out. Jerry asked Sarah to senior prom, which was held at the Bellevue (sound familiar??). About a month after prom, they finally started dating... and literally everyone at Rustin High School said "we knew it!". 8 years later, surviving college, grad school and law school... they still like each other!
Sarah knew that Jerry had JUST graduated from law school, so she thought it was reasonable to discuss 2019 as their proposal year. And she was so sure it would happen, that she told anyone who asked that it would be 2019. Jerry proved her wrong. A weekend in October 2018, Jerry unknowingly took Sarah back on some of their first dates... movies, mini golf, water ice, the Italian market and cannolis. Sunday morning, he told her that wanted to try a new brunch restaurant over by the art museum. After brunch, he asked to go for a walk which Sarah, cold, begrudgingly agreed to. She asked for Jerry's jacket, but it was holding the ring, so he politely declined. They walked up behind the art museum to "check out a regatta on the river" (which didn't actually exist). As they walked up, Sarah noticed a decorated gazebo, and assumed it was part of the regatta. As they got closer, she noticed balloons, rose petals, a bouquet, and Jerry's sister, Jenna, hiding with a camera. Finally, Sarah understood. She proceeded to freak out as Jerry brought her into the gazebo and got down on one knee. Directly after saying yes, Sarah then asked "Are you sure?", and Jerry confirmed. After many happy tears and more amazing photos by Jenna, Jerry had one more surprise up his sleeve. He brought both families into Philadelphia for a surprise engagement dinner. From beginning to end, Sarah had no idea what was happening, but loved every minute of it.
