Garfield Park Conservatory
Our favorite place! Admission is free, donations are welcome. Parking is free in their side lot or street. Indoor and outdoor areas are beautiful and the kids play area is a must if you like digging in the dirt!
Chicago Botanic Garden
Another favorite outdoor location. Admission to the Chicago Botanic Garden is free. Parking is $25 per car on weekdays; $30 per car on weekends and federal holidays (includes tax).
Honey Butter Fried Chicken
This chicken is most excellent! Kid friendly, great outdoor space.
Au Cheval
Come to Au Cheval to ruin other burgers for the rest of your life. This is the absolute best burger you will ever eat. Ever. Lines get long so be prepared to wait. It's a tight fit so bringing kids is doable, but at your own risk.
The Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club
$40, walk-ins welcome, they are on a first come first serve basis. Unfortunately they don't allow ANYONE under the age of 21 at their bar. Even cute, tiny sleeping people.
Hopleaf
Excellent beer, excellent food – Stephanie's favorites are the muscles and the CB&J (cashew butter, fig jam and raclette cheese on sourdough, served toasted and yummy). No one under 21 admitted.
Pretty Cool Ice Cream
Gourmet popsicles and ice cream right in the heart of our neighborhood.
Miko's Italian Ice (Logan Square)
Top notch, all natural, Italian ice, also in our neighborhood.

Chicago's First Lady Cruises
Take in Chicago's beautiful architecture on a relaxing river cruise. Directed by the award-winning Chicago Architecture Foundation Center. Kid-friendly. Mainly outdoor seating with an air conditioned indoor area to cool off in as well. $44.48 (plus tax) per person for daytime tours, children 3 years of age and younger are $25.
Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum
The butterfly enclosure is Watts' favorite! Admission is $9 for adults, $7 for students and seniors (60+), $6 for children ages 3 - 12, Free for children under 3.
Bahai House of Worship
Take in the beautiful gardens and intricate architecture with a picnic lunch or just a stop for photos.
Clark Street Beach
If you're staying up in Evanston, the Clark Street beach is a great spot!
Foster Beach
Another great beach location to pack a picnic.
Hollywood Beach
More beaches that are great! Sometimes Hollywood beach has a DJ set on the weekends.
Montrose Dog Beach
If you love watching dogs go crazy in the sand and water, this beach is for you. There's also a human beach right next-door.
