Spanning the Continental Divide, Rocky Mountain National Park stretches across 265,770 acres filled with alpine lakes, the headwaters of the Colorado River and dozens of peaks that reach 12,000 feet and higher. Access the park through the Estes Park entrance.
Truly a bucket list stop for music lovers! If timing allows, we hope you can see a show (but don't skip out on our wedding!). You can also just access the amphitheater during the day, free of charge! You'll find locals running the stairs or doing yoga by the stage.
In 1974, horror writer Stephen King spent one night at the Stanley Hotel which provided the inspiration for the fictional Overlook Hotel in his novel The Shining. Upon checking in, King and his wife discovered they were the only overnight guests. They ate dinner in a deserted dining room and walked the long, empty corridors alone. King said, "I dreamed of my three-year-old son running through the corridors, looking back over his shoulder, eyes wide, screaming. He was being chased by a fire-hose. I woke up with a tremendous jerk, sweating all over, within an inch of falling out of bed. I got up, lit a cigarette, sat in a chair looking out the window at the Rockies, and by the time the cigarette was done, I had the bones of [The Shining] firmly set in my mind." Today you can book a historic (and spooky) tour at the hotel, stay the night, or just have a glass of whiskey at their famed Whiskey Bar. "Hair of the dog that bit me, Lloyd!"
Jerrica loves this teahouse. If you're looking for a bite to eat with some amazing ambiance, check this place out!
Colorado has much better beer, but Coors is a staple, I guess. Tour times are limited so plan it in advanced!
This is a fantastic and simple hike to a high mountain lake. Gross Reservoir is free to the public, has fishing, hiking, picnicking, and camping. There are fingers of the lake to explore and to disappear into.
Great views and great coffee a short walk from the wedding venue.
