It was the beginning of Spring Break, and I was driving home from college (Prarie View A&M University). Me and my mom planned on getting matching tattoos and then going to Lauren's house for a haircut. Once we arrived, we were greeted by the most handsome human on earth! I'm not a hug person, but Jerret greeted us with hugs and his huge smile, and I swear that was the moment I knew. We were hanging out and talking and getting to know each other. Then my mom suggested we go to a Rascal Flatt's concert together because we both like country music, but unfortunately, it got canceled because of the pandemic. Spring Break was coming to an end, and we were already planning when we would see each other next when I found out that spring break was being extended due to the growing concern about Covid-19. Jerret had asked me to meet him at Chili's on a Friday night, and we talked for what felt like hours, and then we hung out again the next day because he couldn't get enough of me! After our date, I went home and told my mom, "I think I'm gonna marry him." After Covid, a year of long-distance, job changes, and different schedules, I couldn't be more thankful that I get to marry him.
Our first time meeting was a total surprise. I had just moved out to the DFW area and was staying with my aunt Lala at the time. I hear a knock on the front door, and when I open it, I am greeted by Alexis and her mom. My first thought was, wow, she looks fantastic, and this must be a setup. From that first day, we started talking, and it has not changed since the moment we first met. We planned on going to a country concert because we connected on music, but the pandemic had other plans. But during that shutdown, we spent almost every day together or just talking, and that helped me fall in love with this beautiful woman from getting to know her inside and out. She's had me hooked since that first date at chilis, and I never plan on letting go.
