In November 1981, in Atlanta,Georgia, Jerome answered a “Roommate Wanted” classified ad In The Atlanta Journal Constitution. Jerome was working as a chef at the Sheraton and Glenda working at AT&T.  They met one evening and have been inseparable since. Eight months later in June 30, 1981, they united in holy matrimony at St. Philips AME Church off Candler Road in Decatur, GA.
