(Her Version) We met on the last day of Mitch's fraternity's annual regional meeting in Raleigh. To close the weekend they were having a masquerade party fundraiser at the hotel that hosted the meeting. I was there by invitation from a neighboring sorority helping with the ticket sales. The night went on, the music was great. It started to grow late and I had to work early the next morning. I had said my last goodbye to the ladies I spent the evening with when Mitch walked across my path. He literally was flashing a Colgate smile, waving at others as he crossed the room. It seemed as if he was floating. We briefly made eye contact. I turned to one of the girls and said "Oh that's hubby right there" she replied "Well go get him girl" I said "I guess I can stay for a few more minutes" Then I started to assess what I had to do to accomplish my goal. lol There were several women that had circled him. So I just waited for my time to shine. He was standing there dancing a little to the music and I used that as my way in. I stood kind of behind him and stated "Ok I see you. This your song eh?" Mitch immediately stopped dancing lol. He was giving me one word answers to all the questions I asked. Playing hard to get. In the middle of my questions he said he needed to use the restroom and asked me not to leave. I KNEW I WAS IN THEN. When he returned I asked him if he visited Raleigh often he replied "No" Fed up with his one word answers I just put it out there asking "Well do you want a reason to?" I got more than one word when he answered, "I believe I do." It was then I told him that I was actually about to leave as I had an early start the next day. He asked if he could walk with me to get my coat. We exchanged numbers. I let him know when I got home and then he texted me the next day when he got home. We have been inseparable since the first night.

(His version) I was in Raleigh for an annual fraternity conference (April 5-8), had been there since Thursday. On Saturday night, the organization had a masquerade dance where the public could attend. I had been in the hospitality suites most of the evening, but decided to venture down to the dance at a time when it was almost done (around 1:00 AM). When I walked into the room, I felt multiple people looking at me, one of which was Jernail... We made eye contact multiple times over the next 20 minutes, and she eventually made her way over to me and struck up a conversation. She indicates my responses were one word answers that seemed to have no interest behind them, but I do not recall that being the case. I do know that I intentionally did not act overly interested, because when you do, women don't like that! Got to make them wonder if you are really interested! The question that she asked that let me know she was interested was if I came to Raleigh often. I said that I did not, as I really had no reason to. She asked me if I wanted a reason to visit Raleigh! It was at that point that I realized I couldn't mess the rest of the conversation up. She had to be to work at 6:00 AM Sunday morning, so she left pretty quick after this, but texted me and let me know she had made it home safely. We have texted and/or talked every day since that day, and as they say the rest is history. I had not an inkling of an idea that I would meet my future wife on that late evening in April, but I am grateful that God placed our paths together to converge as we did.
