Our Love Story On April 1, 2023, Jeremy and I greeted each other before service at our home church, Fellowship of Believers Baptist Church, just as we always did. After church ended, I rushed out because my son wasn’t feeling well. I grabbed something quick to eat and headed home to take care of him. Not long after I got home, I received a message from Jeremy: “Hey D’Anna, can I give you a call sometime today? I have a question to ask you.” I replied right away, telling him he could call whenever. I had no idea what he wanted to talk about. He didn’t waste a second and called immediately. During that call, he told me he was interested in me and wanted to know if I was single or dating anyone. I told him yes, I was single and not seeing anyone at the time. Then he asked if he could take me out on a date. I said, “Of course, just let me know when.” He asked if the very next day, April 2, 2023, would work for me? I agreed, and he told me he’d text later to figure out the time and where I’d like to go. I was impressed by how respectful and intentional he was, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. Later that evening, we decided to meet at Lupe Tortilla in Pearland at 2:00 PM. The next day, we met for lunch, and it turned out to be one of the best lunch dates I’ve ever had. We talked and laughed from beginning to end. Afterward, we said our goodbyes and went our separate ways, but we kept texting, talking, and going on dates regularly. After about three months, we decided it was time to bring our kids together and let them know we were dating. The blessing in all of this was that the kids already knew each other and had a great relationship from church, which made everything so much easier. Once the kids knew, we shared the news with our family and friends. Everyone was excited for us, especially because we had both come out of difficult seasons in our past relationships. If you know, you know. All I can say is that God has been faithful to us. Neither of us expected to love again but after two years and one month of dating, Jeremy asked me to marry him. The Proposal From August 28–31, 2025, we planned a weekend trip to New Orleans and Baton Rouge. We had an amazing time the entire weekend, but August 30, 2025, is a day we will never forget. Around 5:30 PM, we started getting ready for an “All White R&B Concert” in Baton Rouge that began at 7:00 PM. By 6:10 PM, I was stressing because I hate being late. Jeremy asked me to take a picture with him, so I did but, in my head, I was thinking if he doesn’t hurry up. After the picture, he said, “Okay, let’s go.” I walked outside to the truck, but he wasn’t behind me. I went back inside and found him brushing his hair again. At that point I was confused because he had already brushed his hair, but I went ahead and sat in the car. When he finally got in, he looked at me and said, “Well, I wanted to do this in the house, but I’m not going to let another minute go by.” The moment he said that I knew what was happening. I turned my head toward the window because if I looked at him, I was going to fall apart and I was dressed in all white! He gently said, “Bae, can you look at me please?” When I turned to him, he said, “You know I love you, and I love Dakari.” Those words broke me in the best way. Hearing him say that touched me deeply. Then he continued: “I just want to know will you marry me and be the future Mrs. Palmer?” He was tearing up as he asked, and it took everything in me not to jump out of that truck from excitement. I looked at him and said, “OF COURSE!” We truly thank God for showing us what true love looks like!
