Nine years ago; that’s when we first met. We grew up in very different ways, Sarah as a missionary kid in Papau New Guinea in the South Pacific and Jeremy on a farm in the middle of Ohio. For different reasons we each decided to study abroad in Cairo, Egypt with the Middle East Studies Program (MESP). We spent the semester traveling across the Middle East, embracing the new and wonderful culture, and mostly hiding the fact we liked each other since dating was prohibited in the program. The semester ended in late spring of 2010 with nothing more than subtle hints of interest, and we left Dulles International airport in DC with nothing more than a hug and goodbye. Aside from meeting up for lunch once in Columbus, Ohio, in the spring of 2014, we were living our own lives and pursuing our own dreams...until 2017. That fateful year we met up again at two MESP reunions. By then Sarah had graduated with her Doctor of Physical Therapy and was working in Maryland. Jeremy had graduated with a bachelors of Business and had worked several different jobs in the following years. In seeing each other again, the interest was rekindled and we realized that the feelings hadn't quite gone away. Although it took a strong push from another friend for Jeremy to initiate anything, he decided to try making the drive from Ohio to Maryland to meet up with Sarah. Over the next two months she slowly began to realize he was interested. Then on Dec. 11, 2017, despite a comical mix-up in communication, we officially started dating. By April 2018, Jeremy had moved to Maryland to continue building the relationship. We continued our relationship through the next year building a stronger foundation of trust. Jeremy proposed on January 26, 2019, on a surprise weekend together.we are now looking forward to our celebratory party and excited to be joined by so many of our family and friends.
