Our Story (So Far)

From Covid Road Trippping to Sandy Homesteading...

Jeremy and Lauren met in December 2020. They met virtually, but not via a dating app surprisingly. Jeremy actually had a video interview scheduled with a vanlife coworking startup company called "Kibbo" to see if he'd be accepted into their first community cohort prior to the product launch. He did two things out of character to get him to this moment: (1) put down a $100 deposit just to get on the waiting list, and (2) begrudgingly scheduled a membership interview necessary to be accepted into this very coveted and vague community of digital nomads, in an effort to find WeWork-like spaces in Yosemite-like places. He was meant to have this call with "Josh," but when the Google Meet started, he was greeted by Lauren who took the call last minute... From the scripted interview questions, Lauren—while having had conducted a couple hundred of these by now—quickly realized from Jeremy's answers that the two of them had lived somewhat parallel lives. Both had a background in the creative tech world, both had lived in New York at the same time, and in San Francisco at the same time, ON THE SAME STREET 🤯 Both had lived abroad in Sydney, and went on their first van trip and skydiving adventure in New Zealand. And both were now in the Pacific Northwest, Lauren living in Portland, and Jeremy visiting friends and family in Seattle and his hometown of Eugene while nomad-ing around during the uncertain times of the pandemic. Jeremy found a way to keep in touch with Lauren after the interview. She had mentioned to him that she was about to embark on a long road trip down to see her family in San Diego over Christmas, avoiding air travel for safety reasons. He took this as an opportunity to send her some podcast recommendations and tips on beautiful places to stop along the way since he had just done the northbound version of the drive. Through these emails, turned texts, turned phone calls, turned hours-long FaceTimes, they learned that they had so much more in common than just where they lived. After Christmas, Lauren and her pup Juno headed back to Portland, but not before stopping in Eugene as it's right on the way, and so was Jeremy, her new best friend who she'd now been talking to nearly every day for three weeks, but still had never met in person. Jeremy showed her all around his hometown and then came back to Portland to celebrate the New Year with Lauren and her friends. Shortly after that, they decided to hit the road again, this time together with Juno, visiting Tahoe, Death Valley, Joshua Tree, and San Diego. Soon after, Jeremy discovered he was no longer a nomad as he unofficially moved in with Lauren in Portland until they happened upon their dream property just five months later... Since moving to Camp Cedar Creek in Sandy, Oregon, Lauren and Jeremy have built not only a home and a life, but a business together. That vanlife startup company through which they met ended up building out part of the Camp Cedar Creek barn and renting it out as one of the flagship "WeWork in the Woods" community hubs. Lauren and Jeremy now run the space independently, have a successful campground (Top 10 Hipcamp 3 years in a row!), and host events of all kinds. One of their favorites happens to be the annual 4th of July campout, and the inspiration for their most important celebration yet! 2025 will mark the 4th annual campout and 1st for Jeremy and Lauren as Mr. & Mrs. Briggs 🥂 Hope you can make it!!
