Both Jeremy and Katherine signed up to be involved in a voluntary Bible educational work program called the Special Metropolitan Public Witnessing Program located in Flushing, NY. The first day they met, they were working together with another female friend. It was really Jeremy's first time signing up for a SMPWP shift, let alone being in Flushing. One thing you need to know about Flushing is that it's filled with all sorts of people. You have the everyday commuters passing through and then, the colorful people and crazies. A crazy man passed by asking if Jeremy could help him find a nice girlfriend. Jeremy said, "No, but I can help you learn more about the Bible." The man nodded his head towards the two girls beside Jeremy, "Would you consider one of them being your girlfriend?" "They're my friends." At that, the crazy man walked away. However, Jeremy couldn't help but notice that Katherine's face turned really red!
A full year or so went by since they first met with little to no contact. However, they soon continued working together regularly in the Public Witnessing Program again and got to know each other better and better. As a close friend commented, they were dating before they knew they were dating! Months later Katherine began giving Jeremy the cold shoulder leaving him very confused. Soon she began sending him text messages daily leaving him even more confused. After dropping Katherine home after a PW shift, Jeremy calls Katherine. She thought he was just following up on some things. But, little did she know, Jeremy had wanted to say something for a while. He wanted to let her know of his feelings and intentions. Now.... the ball is in Katherine's court! She called the next day to let him know the feeling were mutual. The rest is history!
August 5th, 2017 under the guise of making up for their one year anniversary Jeremy decided to prepare a picnic for Katherine, a few family members and close friends. After looking at the forecast, he realized he needed a Plan B. So, he planned a lunch at TOA Asian Fusion in Huntington, NY. After being seated and ordering, a steamer basket was placed in front of her. "Compliments from the Chef". She opened the steamer basket and found a note and jewelry box containing an engagement ring.
