We're Getting Married | Nos Vamos a Casar

When Jeremy and Gustavo first met in May of 2020, they didn't speak each other's language. Gustavo didn't understand English and Jeremy could not speak a word of Spanish. They met for the first time at a park and spoke through a translating app on their phone. Their 30 minutes, socially distanced date turned into talking for nearly 5 hours. After that date, they began speaking every day and kept meeting up to learn more about each other. After a few weeks, Gustavo was taking English classes and Jeremy was learning Spanish on Youtube. After a couple of months of dating, Jeremy met Gustavo's family at a birthday party and did not understand a single word that day - but he felt immediately welcomed. Jeremy then met Gustavo's parents and sister who live in Colombia (via facetime) and loved them instantly. Through the holidays and into the Spring of 2021, Jeremy became a part of Gustavo's family. In June of 2021, Gustavo finally met Jeremy's parents when they were visiting Connecticut. They made Gustavo feel like he was part of the family, as Jeremy felt nearly a year before. Jeremy and Gustavo learned that, despite all of the obstacles of their language barrier, they only grew closer and, perplexingly, never had trouble communicating with each other. They recognized that as a sign of being true soul mates. In every relationship, there are obstacles and adversity; however, there is always something that connects two people. In the case of Gustavo and Jeremy, they have found that their love for each other is enough. In May of 2021, shortly after their first anniversary, they decided to get married.

Cuando Jeremy y Gustavo se conocieron por primera vez en mayo de 2020, no hablaban el idioma del otro. Gustavo no entendía inglés y Jeremy no podía hablar una palabra de español. Se conocieron por primera vez en un parque y hablaron a través de una aplicación de traducción en su teléfono. Lo que se suponía que iba a ser una cita socialmente distanciada de 30 minutos se convirtió en una conversación de casi 5 horas. Después de esa fecha, comenzaron a hablar todos los días y se siguieron reuniendo para aprender más el uno del otro. Después de unas semanas, Gustavo estaba tomando clases de inglés y Jeremy estaba aprendiendo español en Youtube. Después de un par de meses de salir juntos, Jeremy conoció a la familia de Gustavo en una fiesta de cumpleaños y ese día no entendió una sola palabra, pero se sintió bienvenido de inmediato. Jeremy luego conoció a los padres y la hermana de Gustavo que viven en Colombia (vía facetime) y los amó al instante. Durante las vacaciones y la primavera de 2021, Jeremy se convirtió en parte de la familia de Gustavo. En junio de 2021, Gustavo finalmente conoció a los padres de Jeremy cuando estaban de visita en Connecticut. Se llevaban muy bien y hacían que Gustavo se sintiera parte de la familia, como Jeremy se sentía casi un año antes. Jeremy y Gustavo aprendieron que, a pesar de todos los obstáculos de la barrera del idioma, solo se acercaron más y, sorprendentemente, nunca tuvieron problemas para comunicarse entre ellos. Reconocieron eso como una señal de ser verdaderas almas gemelas. En toda relación hay obstáculos y adversidades; sin embargo, siempre hay algo que conecta a dos personas. En el caso de Gustavo y Jeremy, han descubierto que su amor mutuo es suficiente. En mayo de 2021, poco después de su primer aniversario, decidieron casarse.
