It all started on the dating app, Match. On 01/07/20, Travis matched with a beautiful woman named Allison and decided to send her a message. Was it her description about her hobbies and faith that did it for him, or the Star Wars themed profile picture? Who’s to say for certain? After hitting it off, they agreed to meet at Houndstooth Coffee. At least… they tried to, but Travis found the only coffee shop in Dallas that closes before 5:00 P.M. Lucky for them, there was a popup bar themed after The Office right next door, so they were able to go in and get to know each other! Both were excited and amazed at how easy it was to talk with the other, talking about everything from each other’s interests, her mission work at her church, and how she’s like Olaf from Frozen and loves warm hugs. They both quickly lost track of time – so much that they didn’t realize it was 9 P.M. and that neither of them had eaten anything. So, Travis walked Allison to her car where she gave him one of her famous hugs (which lived up to the hype) and both called their respective best friends. Travis told his friend Jon about how amazing it went, and Allison told her friend Ashley that, no, they weren’t getting matching tattoos because her iPhone’s “Find My Location” had a glitch and said she was at a tattoo parlor. Their conversations had something in common – they couldn’t wait to go on another date. So, they did! The rest is history.
It was decided – Travis was going to propose to Allison on the one year anniversary of their first date! He had the girl, the ring, a sign from God, and the date to propose figured out. Now all he needed was a plan. For assistance, he requested the help of her best friends Kris and Ashley, and their daughter Avery. The plan was simple: meet at Houndstooth to re-enact their first date, and pop the question where they spent hours getting to know each other a year ago. The execution wasn’t as simple, since Travis almost spilled the beans, and their lunch plans almost ruined the timing. All of that didn’t matter in the end when Travis told Allison “this is the spot a year ago where I couldn’t wait to see you again, and now I can’t wait to spend forever with you. So Allison Ashley Bray…will you marry me?”
