We were both juniors in college, and the new school year had just started. We met through our mutual friend, Kenji, who Jeremiah had randomly started rooming with that year. Since the first time we locked eyes and shook hands, we've felt connected ever since. We bonded over our shared love of music, video games, nature, and our sense of humor. We moved into an apartment together at the end of that school year, traveled to Asia together, got our first dog (Basil), cooked a lot of Trader Joe's meals, and watched a ton of movies and shows. 11 years later, we're living in the Caribbean with our two dogs (Basil and Prince) and more in love than ever.

We flew to Curacao to see if we could see ourselves living there. A few days into our trip, we decided to drive around to the best beaches on the island to get a general feel for them. We were loving the laid back island vibes, tropical weather, and strong drinks. In the afternoon, Jeremiah announced he wanted to check out one more cool spot on the island. We drove up a large hill to Santa Martha Viewpoint, which overlooks gorgeous salt flats, hills, and the ocean in the distance. The sun was just starting to set behind the hills, showering the area in rays of pinks and oranges. Jeremiah had asked Kat to look toward the sunset and pose for a picture. After a few moments of waiting for Jeremiah to take the picture, Kat turned around and found Jeremiah on one knee with a ring in his hand. The rest is history.
