Two versions…
I'll leave out the parts about airtagging her vehicles, and stalking her neighborhood looking for her house. I'll also spare you the story about the salmon colored hot pants at the gas station. I will however tell you that when we finally spoke for the first time, it was after I had flipped a u-turn with my grocery cart and was heading back down the cheese aisle at Albertsons to get a second look at the brown haired beauty who had flashed a smile at me. December 10th, a Sunday, we were both looking for taco fixings. She says when she asked me my name that I said it was Cher. I was twitter-pated. I don't remember fouling my name, but I know for sure that I didn't remember my phone number when she asked for that. I do however remember her touching my arm as we departed. I do remember rushing home to call my sister and brother-in-law to tell them I met a woman at the grocery store. I do remember getting pictures of her taco 🌮 later that evening.
Yes, he is correct……on December 10th, 2023, we officially locked eyes in the cheese aisle at Albertsons & it was the first interaction with words. But our story begins even before that. I don’t know the date that I pulled up next to this handsome, bearded man in the Albertsons parking lot, but I remember it like it was yesterday….. -Both of us in our black Subaru Foresters. -Both of us with dogs hanging out the windows. -Both of us with Let ‘Er Buck Car Wash air fresheners dangling from our rear view mirrors. …..And then, with this big beautiful smile, he looked over at me & flirtatiously tugged on his air freshener. No words were exchanged at that first interaction. Over the course of several months, we had a couple other no-words-exchanged interactions in the Albertsons’ parking lot and gas station (salmon hot pants included). And then finally the face-to-face in the cheese aisle….. -Yes, we were both fixing tacos that night. -Yes, there was awkward staring/smiling. -Yes, he fumbled his name & couldn’t remember his cell phone number. 🤣 …..And how grateful I am for the journey that landed us here.
Jer here. I had thought of some elaborate idea, a public display involving friends, family and the Albertson’s cheese aisle, because what better place right? A cheesy proposal, but that had the kabosh put on it by all the females at her girls’ weekend in October (2025), added with the fact that Kim had guessed the plan weeks prior and explicitly told me not to. The second scheme for a proposal was for a downtown Tower Building evening the night of December 10th; however, that fell through with poor planning on my part and a youth group Wednesday that ran late for Kim. The ring, in between these 2 dates, had traveled with me up the mountain to the cabin, twice, and was twice spoiled, and journeyed for a weekend hot water holiday trip to Thermopolis, also foiled on account of nerves. SO… Christmas Eve, what better time and place than a gathering of our families. So… sweaty and red faced, I paced around my parents’ kitchen in front of the family, looking like I was on the brink of a cardiac event, I dropped to a knee and asked her the most important question of our lives. And well, she obviously said yes, or you wouldn't be reading this.
