“It’s funny to look back on how our story began, more than 12 years ago. We were both part of the same youth football organization. He was a football player, and I was a cheerleader. Even though our paths never actually crossed, we still were at the same events and functions all the time. Our Families had common interests, which made it possible for us to always be around each other. From BBQ’s, family outings to dinners and eventually vacations. We were kids, all we cared about was having fun. We were friendly and would say hello to each other often, hang out with mutual friends but never did we show any interest in each other. It wasn’t until the 12th grade, when we were in the same chemistry class, that’s when we became real friends. We became friends because we had similar interests and we clicked, we weren't just family friends because of our parents. He sat directly behind me in chemistry Class. Since it was the first day of school, I gravitated towards him because he was already a familiar face and we were already friends. We talked about everything and anything. Who he liked, who I liked. It was friends giving friends good advice. Our chemistry was perfect. Our inside jokes created a bond that led to laughter. The laughter led to caring and feeling mixed emotions. By this time, I was a senior, he was a football star and I was the cheer captain. We would hang out with our friend group but nothing one on one. Looking back at it, our families knew there was something happening between us. That something happened at my graduation party that brought our paths together and intersect at the exact time God intended it to happen. His family was at my house, along with many family members and friends celebrating my big day. I was dancing with my girls and having a great time, that’s when a guy steps in and starts dancing directly with me. It was nothing, two friends enjoying music busting a move. To Jenoah, it was more... Jenoah was sitting at a table with my dad and his dad watching us dance. As my dad tells it, Jenoah was watching in terror, his blood was boiling. His dad told him “Boy, you gonna let someone take your woman from you? You better go take what’s yours!” My dad told me that’s the day it all came together. His fire was ignited, and we began to talk as more than friends. Talking turned into flirting, and flirting turned into making plans to hang out. We had concerns about making our relationship more than just a friendship because we didn’t want to ruin our friendship, but we’re both beyond thankful that we took the leap of faith. We made the choice to continue on with the feelings of falling for each other and have been madly in love ever since! You can search and search for your true love your entire life, it turns out I had been cheering and rooting for him to make the big plays the entire time we knew each other!
