We met at church in November of 2024. At first, we did not spend a lot of time together, because Jenny was in coaching season, and Nick was just getting to know people at the church. After swim season, Jenny started hanging out with the young adults group again, and we began to get to know each other at cookouts, playing sports, game nights, and other social events. As time went on, Nick invited Jenny's whole house to a game night at his apartment (but only texted Jenny about it). ;) She went and was surprised to see over 20 people crammed into his apartment! She was attracted to how he made people feel welcome and served those in his home. Fast forward, and Jenny was looking for a way to interact more with Nick. He would often come up and talk to her at the welcome center. She knew he loved to play hymns on the piano, so naturally she texted and asked if he would like an old hymnal that the church was no longer using. He agreed to pick it up at the welcome center the next Sunday (even though he already had a hymnal), and that was the Sunday that he asked Jenny out for their first date. They went on a date that day, going for a walk at Highbanks and ice cream afterwards. They continued to go on dates over the next month and a half. Walking at the Park of Roses, square dancing, and going to a Clippers game. Most dates continued to end in a quick stop for some ice cream. About a month after going on their first date, they went out for some wood-fired pizza and made the relationship official.

Nick worked behind the scenes with Jenny's family to surprise her. Jenny was convinced that Nick would not be able to surprise her, but he pulled it off. They went out for dinner at Carrabba's, a nice Italian restaurant. Jenny thought that afterwards they were going to her parents' for a movie night. She was convinced it really was just a movie night because her Mom texted last minute the night before. But when she walked in, there were rose petals on the floor. Nick walked her to the piano that was decorated with roses and candles. He played and sang a song for her, got down on one knee, and proposed. She said, "Yes!" They welcomed all the family that was hidden in the other room and celebrated. Where Nick proposed is also where Jenny's grandparents were married, which added to the specialness of the spot Nick chose.
