How They Met

The Cat and the Cowboy

How They Met Jenny and Joe met at the University of Scranton in October 2012. One of Jenny's roommates decided to host a Halloween party that year. They invited several Scranton friends, as well as a group of guys from Maritime College. Jenny dressed as her favorite animal- a cat! While getting ready, she mistakenly painted on her cat nose upside down, like a jack-o-lantern. When the guys from Maritime arrived, Jenny immediately noticed one of them, who was very handsomely dressed as a cowboy. She turned to her friend and whispered, "The guy dressed as a cowboy could be The One for me!" Turns out, that handsome guy was (and is!) Joe. Once they were introduced, Joe was a perfect gentleman to Jenny, even when he was breaking the news that her cat nose was drawn upside down. He was even sweet enough to redraw it on for her the right way. Their meeting felt like fate, and they were both completely smitten from that day on!

The Proposal

June 21, 2019

Joe told Jenny that his mom had been invited on a NYPD harbor boat. Joe's mom was unable to attend, so they extended the invitation to Joe and Jenny. On the morning of the event, they awoke to clouds and rain. Jenny kept asking, "Are you sure this is still on?" Joe showed her the hourly forecast on his phone, which proved the rain would stop and the event would go on as planned. Reluctantly, Jenny put on her raincoat and they were on their way to New York City. Their first stop was to meet the NYPD Commissioner of Employee Relations- Mr. Ganley. Then, they were driven to the dock where the boat waiting for them. By this time, the rain did stop, and the sky was slowly becoming brighter. The only people on the boat were Joe, Jenny, 3 NYPD harbor officers, and a NYPD photographer. The boat left as soon as they sat down. This felt very surreal to Jenny, and she began to get her hopes up. "Could Joe be proposing today?" Jenny thought. She felt like it was almost planned just for them. When the boat pulled up to the Statue of Liberty, the officers suggested that Jenny and Joe go outside and take in the beautiful view. They walked outside, in awe of how beautiful the Statue of Liberty looked. It was then that Joe expressed how much he loves Jenny, got down on one knee, and asked her if she would marry him. "YES OF COURSE!" she responded, and he slid the beautiful ring on her finger. It was the happiest moment of their lives, and the start of their forever!
