Two owls in the night... We met at Rice University during the glory days of college. I was a freshman at Will Rice College and he was a sophomore adviser at McMurtry College. Hermann scouted my picture in the orientation handbook but knew better...freshmen were off limits to upperclassmen until "Pumpkin Grades" were released later in the fall. Sure enough, Hermann asked me out in October and in November we went to Esperanza (our Homecoming dance) together. The rest is history. Many more Esperanza dances, football games, beer bike sweeps, and two medical degrees later, and here we are. We hope you celebrate with us!
It was the day that "Big Daddy Herm" became Dr. Hermann Piard. Celebrations were already in effect; The house was filled to the brim with family, friends, and loved ones. It was time to cut the cake. Hermann asked my parents to come to the front for a "special photo" with his Mom and Dad. We gathered and posed accordingly. The cake was passed to the front, held too high to see what it said. Then it was presented to me which read, "Jenny, will you marry me?" I was too shocked to cry, but my Mom wasn't. Hermann scooped me up, spun me around, and there were six mariachis with trumpets! Missed it? Don't worry, it's all on facebook live...
