If there ever was a perfect love story, and by perfect I mean full of bad timing, then this is it! Jen and I first met in 2006, and like all good love stories, Jen was dating someone else at the time. I would pine from the other end of the bar when friends would go out, telling anyone who would listen (besides Jen's girlfriend) how awesome Jen was. From the beginning, I was drawn to Jen's no BS attitude, her love for school, and her good taste in music. Although not close, Jen and I drifted apart moving to new circles and phases in our lives. Fast forward to 2013, many years and a couple of failed relationships for the two of us, Jen and I crossed paths again. After a few texts back and forth, we decided on happy hour at a local bar, the Bikini Lounge. After too many whiskeys and a few brief minutes, I recalled all the reasons why I had admired Jen, and after a night of story telling and laughs, nobody could have predicted what was to come. We started to spend more time together, drinking, laughing and going to shows. As time went on, I confessed my feelings for Jen, stating how it felt like we had picked up right where we left off in 2006. Shocker, Jen had no idea (big thanks to my friends for not embarrassing me!). We fell in love and have shared plenty of good times with each others' friends and family, bought a house, got a couple of doggies, Jen earned her doctorate, I got promoted, and if I had to guess, we've probably been to about 500 concerts. On July 13, 2019, I decided to keep the party going and propose to Jen. It was only fitting to make this night special at the location where it all began, the Bikini Lounge. At that time, we had been together for six years, and for six years Jen would ask every time we left the house if we were going to her surprise engagement party, so that's exactly what she got! The proposal was full of nerves, sweat, lights, and most of all love. Jen was completely surprised and after she said yes, friends were inside the bar to celebrate the best news anyone has ever heard.
