How We Met

07.23.2017

Jenny and Stacey met on the online dating app Bumble. They both swiped right! On 7.3.17 Jenny made the first move by texting Stacey with the killer pick up line, "Hey Stacey! How are you beautiful?" and the rest was history. Jenny was 27 at the time and had just moved back to DFW to complete an externship with the Dallas Patent Office and the last couple of online classes that she needed before graduation. Stacey was 25 and working as a school social worker for a non-profit organization in Fort Worth. She has spent her summer traveling to six different countries before having time to meet Jenny for the first time in person. 07.23.2017 The day that the two worlds aligned (haha). Stacey had just gotten back from a trip from New York and Ireland, and agreed to meet Jenny in Fort Worth for dinner. Jenny suggested trying the restaurant Mash'd and the plans were set. Jenny made it to the restaurant first and waited patiently inside for Stacey. Stacey was a couple minutes late, and struggled to find the front door.... Jenny was inside watching the entire thing. They were both so nervous and Stacey's opening line was "wow you don't sound like I imagined you to sound". Jenny asked "what did you imagine?" and Stacey unsuccessfully tried to explain she had only read messages in her own voice. Stacey was mortified. Jenny was so calm and intelligent. Stacey tried to change the subject and then ordered the strongest drink on the menu. Stacey was so nervous she agreed to a corn appetizer and beef tacos (Stacey doesn't like corn or beef). After dinner they walked to a neighborhood bar and played life size Jenga and corn-hole. Stacey was very competitive and kicked Jenny's butt, which made Jenny fall madly in love from that day on. The end. (Story told by Stacey :))

The First Proposal

02.08.20

Jenny always insisted on proposing first, something that Stacey eventually regretted agreeing to. But proposing is hard, so when it finally came time to plan popping the question, Jenny had her work cut out for her. What kind of ring does Stacey want? Should it be on a trip? Should family and friends be there? Should it be at home alone? Should there be a photographer there? So many possibilities, but the one thing Jenny knew for sure was that she wanted it to be a surprise. Jenny spent months plotting with Stacey's friends on how best to pop the question. A date and location were finally set, and the plan unfolded ... almost perfectly. Jenny planted the seeds early in January that she and a friend would be visiting another friend in Amarillo in February. Jenny also carefully attempted to throw Stacey off the trail... perhaps Jenny wouldn't be proposing as soon as she had thought, rings are very expensive after all, oh and what ring size are you again? Stacey's friends were in charge of getting Stacey to the location. They waited patiently for Stacey to ask them to hangout, which she always does when Jenny is out of town, so that they could suggest the restaurant where Jenny was proposing. But as the time drew near, Stacey kept trying to ruin Jenny's plans. First she decided she would meet her family in Las Vegas, thankfully that fell through on its own. Next she scheduled windows to be installed on the day of the proposal, so Jenny had to convince the company to call Stacey and reschedule to another date. Finally, Stacey decided that the day of the proposal she wanted to run an "errand" with her friends before going to the restaurant, which caused them to be 30 minutes late, leaving poor Jenny to sweat nervously in the restaurant alone. But in the end they finally got to the restaurant where Jenny asked and after Stacey finally got over the shock (and a couple of "what the fuck"s) she finally said YES!

The Second Proposal

05.11.20

Stacey was actually late to the first proposal because she went ring shopping for Jenny. Stacey found the ring that day, but only purchased the center stone. A few days after the first proposal Stacey went back to the store and purchased Jenny’s ring. After designing and customizing some details of the ring, Stacey purchased Jenny’s ring one week after Jenny proposed. It was estimated to take approximatey 5-6 weeks for the ring to come back from the designer. This was on February 17th, 2020 and we all know what was around the corner...that’s right, the entire nation shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Jenny’s ring was being made in New York, one of the hardest hit areas in the US at that time. So the estimated 5-6 weeks was out the window at this point. Fast forward to Jenny’s 30 birthday. Restauraunts were starting to open back up and Jenny decided that she wanted to eat at her favorite restaurant Bulla (where Jenny proposed to Stacey). After dropping Jenny off at work, Stacey got the text of a lifetime...you got it, Jenny’s ring was finished and ready to be picked up. Stacey was so surprised and excited. She turned around and drove an hour back to the ring store, picked up the ring and that’s when the nerves hit. How should she do it? Stacey had already purchased a geode ring box (which Jenny had mentioned was a dream proposal idea) back in February. So she pulled out the geode (which was hidden under the couch in the office) and wrapped the ring like a birthday present. Stacey was full of excitement and nerves all day. She couldn’t stop thinking how serendipitous this day was, with the ring being ready on Jenny’s 30th birthday and reservations already made for dinner at the exact restauraunt Jenny had proposed to Stacey at about four months prior. Jenny opened the present and (obviously) said yes and they celebrated with a night full of drinks, love and good food.
