It was December 3rd, 2011 -the Feast of St. Francis Xavier – a big celebration day on campus when graduating St.FX students receive their coveted X-rings. Both Jen and Scott were out celebrating with friends who had just received their rings. At the end of the night Jen was debating whether or not she should walk in the opposite direction to grab a bag of chips first before beginning the journey home. Really craving some BBQ chips, she went to the local convenience store and then had a 20 minute walk ahead of her. Part way into the walk she decided that she wanted someone to talk with to pass the time. A little ways ahead there was someone walking, so she ran up to them and struck up a conversation. This ‘someone’ was Scott, who was just on his way home from a house party. They started talking and realized that they had a lot in common. They soon arrived at the street where Scott lived, however instead of parting ways, Scott offered to walk with Jen until she arrived home. Feeling bad that Scott was wearing a T-shirt on a cold night in December, Jen invited Scott in for a hot chocolate and they talked for hours at the kitchen table. Oddly enough, Jen soon found out that this story was very similar to how her parents (Leo & Heather) had met.
Scott had planned a surprise trip to Banff to get out of the city and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Jen and Scott did some exploring around the town, had a lovely lunch, and then went to take the gondola up to Sulphur Mountain. The ride up to the summit was peaceful and the views were amazing. Half way up the mountain, Scott got down on one knee and proposed. When they reached the top, they went for a walk to enjoy the scenery - although Jen couldn’t stop staring at the ring. They ended their perfect evening in the log cabin with some wine by the fireplace.
