Timing is everything

We met at work, I dug his taste in music, thought he was cute, and asked him out for a casual 'wanna grab dinner after work' non-date. I thought we clicked, but nothing ever came from it. We both quit shortly after that, and had limited contact through social media over the next couple of years. Then Covid happened. Sai's school closed for 'two weeks' and he posted on Facebook, "Road Trip anyone??" I responded with a simple hand-up emoji. Minutes later, Sai messaged my phone asking if I really wanted to go somewhere. I said heck ya. He suggested Bristlecone.. he wanted to see those beauties up close. I suggested Zion. To which he replied, he'd already been there.. I said me too, but it was without a doubt my favorite park. He abandoned his idea, and dove head first into this new plan. Within hours, he'd secured us reservations at Watchman for a week, and was planning a menu. We hadn't seen each other in years, but didn't think twice about a road trip and camping together for a week. We sang, we talked, caught up, arrived to rain, but set up camp with no issues. We spent our days hiking and evenings, eating all the yummy food Sai cooked. Our campfire talks became less superficial, and I knew something was happening. We were officially dating less than a week after returning home

The Proposal

We planned months in advance, to visit Zion again for our 2 year anniversary. A month prior, my parents were going between national parks, trying to decide where to spend spring break. I suggested Zion, since that's where Sai & I would be, and it would be nice to share a hike there. They quickly agreed and made the plan. Sai drove down from Oregon, and I, up from California. The next day, we all met at sunrise, to get an early start on our hike. The first hike didn't go as planned, so we opted to do our favorite quick hike- Canyon Overlook. Once at the top, Sai asked my dad to snap a couple photos of us. When the photo had been taken, I turned to go, and Sai said wait, and tugged at my hand. I turned to face him, and he was on his knee. I honestly barely heard a word he said ( the diamond was very distracting lol ) I heard the words " Baba, Will you marry Me?" .. put the ring on and kissed him. He pointed out, I hadn't said yes, to which I emphatically did! lol I could not have asked for a more perfect moment, in a more perfect place, with my parents there.

For all the days along the way
