Question

Beaver Creek or Avon? What's the difference? Also, where does Vail fit in? Please teach me geography.

Answer

Okay. Beaver Creek is the ski resort in the town of Avon. Vail is a different town about 10 minutes east of Avon. (Just to make it more confusing, we live in Eagle, which is 35 minutes west of Vail, 25 minutes west of Avon.)

Question

How far is our house in Eagle from Beaver Creek?

Answer

Eagle is about 25 minutes from Avon and Beaver Creek.

Question

What airport should I fly into?

Answer

You have 2 options. You can fly into Denver International, which is about a 2.5 hour drive to the Vail Valley. You can also fly into Eagle (Vail airport, EGE), which is 10 minutes from our house and about 30 minutes to Avon. Flying into Eagle is definitely more expensive, but when you take into consideration rental cars or shuttles, it might be a wash depending on where you're coming from.

Question

Speaking of rental cars and shuttles.....

Answer

1. You can obviously rent a car from Denver and drive in, no problem. It'll be summertime, so you don't have to worry about treacherous driving conditions. 2. You can also book a Colorado Mountain Express Shuttle (coloradomountainexpress.com), which is $84/person one way. (They do a deal though, for 3 or more people for $68/person one way. Make friends!) 3. If you're feeling adventurous, you can take the train from DIA to Union Station in Denver. From there you can get on the Bustang (yes, that's what it's called) for $22. It'll drop you at the Vail Transpo Center, where you can take the ECO Transit bus to Avon. Make sure to check the Bustang schedule before you decide to go this route. (Look, I said it would be an adventure.) 4. There are taxis, but sadly no Lyft (or Uber). These are good options if you fly into Eagle. 5. Also, it's a 13 hour drive from Santa Monica to Eagle, and not quite 9 hours from Las Vegas. Just FYI.

Question

What's the weather going to be like?

Answer

It's summer, so it should be gorgeous. Warm, (anywhere from high 70s to low 90s) in the day, cooler (anywhere from high 40s to high 50s) in the evening, after the sun goes down. (Jess, you should bring a jacket, just in case.) The ceremony is outside, so make sure you bring your sunglasses. If you do bring a coat, there's a coat room at Allie's where you can stash it.

Question

Are kids welcome at the ceremony and reception?

Answer

We love your kids, but we're opting to have an adult-only ceremony and reception. If you'd like to make the weekend a family affair, you're more than welcome to do so. There is plenty of kid-friendly fun in the Vail Valley. We'll have a list of reputable sitters for the night of the wedding, just let us know and we'll set you up! Thank you for understanding.
