Honor Attendant
Ari was my first roomate in college, and as an only child, the first person I had ever shared a room with ever. We will always be grateful to the online roomate lottery for matching us together, even though we both lied on our surveys and said we both liked to frequently clean our rooms! We quickly became like siblings after months of roomie bonding, marshmallow fluff, and keeping each half of our room equally messy. I was honored to be the maid of honor at their wedding, and can't wait to have them stand by my side at mine!
Bridesmaid
Emily and I became close friends on a study abroad trip to the Galapagos Islands. Our bond was strengthened when we became roomates on our next study abroad trip to Costa Rica, where together we handled dead rats, getting locked inside our apartment complex, and various other misadventures. The adventures continued when we became roomates in Washington DC, and our bond stayed strong even as we both moved to Latin America, always reconnecting for more "gringa perdida" adventures. I can't wait for the adventures to continue!
Bridesmaid
Allison is one of my oldest friends and we have been through so much together, from middle school to high school when Allison drove me to school every day in senior year, putting up with me even though I always managed to wake up late. We bonded over lady gaga dance parties in her car and late night driveway talks. We even went to college together, but didn't become roomates until the summer I graduated, when she supported me with endless patience and advice as I learned to navigate the adult world. Even afer I moved to Mexico we stayed so close, and every time I came home our friendship made me feel like I had never left. So excited to continue sharing each chapter in our lives together!
Bridesmaid
Katie moved to Mexico and started at CIMMYT two weeks before me, and the day I arrived at CIMMYT we immediately became friends! We learned to navigate CIMMYT, Texcoco and Mexico together, and I was so excited when we simultaneously asked each other to be roomates in Mexico City. From our crazy first year in a shared apartment, to getting our first apartment together and decorating it with souvenirs from all our trips across Mexico, we grew and learned together and Katie supported me every step of the way. I couldn't have asked for a better colleague, roomate and friend. Even after she left CIMMYT and Mexico, we reconnected in Europe and Chicago, and I can't wait to have her at my wedding in my hometown!
Bridesmaid
Laura was my second roomate in Mexico and quickly became a close colleague and friend. We survived earthquakes and other disasters, and supported each other through it all. Laura taught me how to drive and was brave enough to be my sidekick as I learned to navigate Mexican highways, and we took so many epic and beautiful trips across Mexico together. I was lucky enough to take her wedding dress shopping and support her through planning a wedding thousands of miles away, and she has done the same for me! I caught the bouquet at her wedding one week after my first date with Omar - coincidence? I think not!
Groomsman
Diego is Omar's little brother, and he couldn't get married without him by his side! They were roomates their entire childhood, when they engaged in epic toy army battles (pigs against dinosaurs) and helped their father every weekend at their family's shoe store. They became roomates again in high school and college as they lived and studied in Puebla together, and always included each other in their adventures. Diego is kind, honest, intelligent and so funny, and the best brother anyone could ask for - and I am so excited to finally have a little brother too!
Groomsman
Emmanuel is Omar's cousin and one of his best friends. They were the same age and grade at school and were always inseparable growing up, making them almost more like brothers than cousins. While both moved away from their hometown of Libres, Puebla for work and school they stayed close, visiting each other whenever they could and reuniting for family reunions. Emmanuel hosted us in his home in Queretaro, Mexico, for Omar's 25th birthday trip before we started dating, and that trip made us realize how much we liked spending time together! We can't wait to show Emmanuel and his family around my hometown, and we are so excited to have Emmanuel by our side at our wedding!
Groomsman
Uriel has been Omar's best friend ever since they studied International Relations together at the Tec de Monterrey university in Puebla, Mexico, where Uriel used to kindly give Omar wake up calls whenever he accidentally slept in and risked missing class (neither me nor Omar are morning people :) They had so many adventures across Puebla together, and stayed best friends even as Uriel moved to Cancun and later to the Netherlands for his masters degree. We were lucky enough to be able to reunite for a magical trip to Guanajuato, Mexico together with Uriel and his lovely girlfriend, Jess. We were supposed to visit Uriel and Jess in London right as the pandemic hit, but can't wait to be reunited on the other side of the Atlantic!
Groomsman
Gerardo Mejia is a very close mutual friend, as he was the (extremely talented) graphic designer at CIMMYT. We shared an office for several years, we and became close friends due to his kind personality and great sense of humor. He and Omar became close after Omar became roomates with Gerardo's future wife, Catherine, and the rest is history! Gerardo is also a very talented musician, and Omar and I fell in love to the music of Gerardo's album, Los Cienpies "A Color". Even after Omar moved to Merida, we had so many lovely trips to Omar's hometown with Gerardo, Catherine, and our close friend Nancy (who was also a talented graphic designer at CIMMYT!) and fun adventures in Texcoco, including Gerardo and Catherine's wedding! Gerardo will not be able to attend the wedding in person, but will be there in spirit, and we can't wait to celebrate with him (and Catherine!) in the future!
