Most of you that know us already know we have been friends for a long time. For those that don’t, allow us to briefly regale you with a tale of friendship, intrigue, and romance. Our story begins in the summer of 2007 at a local summer camp - Stony Brook Acres in Wilbraham MA. Lifeguard Jen was new to the camp scene and fresh out of high school. Nature Nick had spent the previous 2 years working as a counselor, but had taken the position of specialist (hence the cool name). It was here that the bond of friendship was forged while laughing, singing silly camp songs, soaking up the sun, playing all day and delivering mallows to the pool on Firepit Fridays (A delicious treat made by Nick). After a few years at camp, and many mallows, Jen’s time as a lifeguard ended as she ultimately decided to move to VT to seek new adventures. Nick stayed at camp a few more years, but the bond of friendship never broke. In fact, it arguably grew stronger. Nick would find the time once or twice a year to visit Middlebury VT since he liked driving so much and they continued their friendship through multiple of Jen’s moves, hiking, trips to Burlington, maple bacon and Woodchuck ciders. Though they had been separated by 170 miles and 3.5 hours of driving, the distance couldn’t keep their friendship from wilting, withering and dying like a flower without water. No, their friendship was not doomed to languish. Eventually, the VT adventure had to come to an end. Jen longed for family and home and could hear Western MA beckoning her back - so she moved back! Now the friendship continued with an interesting twist as Jen would be the one to visit Nick, who was living in Northampton, and they would hang out, eat sushi on the front stoop of Nick’s apartment and generally spend time together as friends. However, that was all about to change. One fateful evening in the autumn of 2016, Nick walked Jen back to her car and, before they parted ways, there was an awkward moment. Not knowing what to do, both panicked and quickly said goodbye and headed off. It was acknowledged by both parties that the moment happened, but it wasn’t until later that they addressed this “moment” - their event horizon - and decided to see more of each other. This, of course, came with trepidation, since neither party wanted to upset the friendship that they had built over the last nearly 10 years, but their friendship had now, officially, turned to intrigue. This intrigue lead to Jen visiting Nick in Northampton more often. These visits entailed more sushi dates, sampling the local various Northampton eateries, walking and exploring around Northampton and Smith College, random drives around Western MA and visiting local wineries. Soon enough, that intrigue became a romance. The rest, as they say, is history. Nick and Jen moved in together in 2018, taking that leap of faith that comes with living with someone. Renting an apartment was the perfect preamble to the next step, which was purchasing a house. And so, they did just that - buying a house in Ludlow at the beginning of Covid and adopting 2 kitties. And with that, we arrive at the end of our story of friendship, intrigue and romance. And here we are now - celebrating this odyssey with a marriage, and we are so incredibly happy that you have been, somehow, involved at some point in our lives to be able to share this experience with us.
