Our Story

I was asked to write this story by a very special person in my life. This will be a challenge, because I need more than 4000 characters to describe our story. Therefore, I will shorten this read to the best of my ability. As you read our story, you must know that from time to time I will reference this special someone as "Cupcake or "Jenn". The reasons why, are not of external significance. Should you ask in person, I will tell. Moving on, our relationship would not be where it is today if it was not for God. God is the perfect description of what love looks like. Gods' act of love, while He was here on earth, exemplifies what love looks like. We can rejoice in the fact that all we have to do is choose to follow His example. He died to self, died to His own agenda, and died as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. Because of Jesus, we who have accepted Him, get the opportunity to display that same love to others. It should be evident by our actions, not just words, especially towards our wife or husband, that we love them. Just read about Jesus, and you will discover what love looks like (John 3:16). That's enough for now. I need to finish what Jenn asked me to do (continue reading). Jenn and I met through a Christian dating app called Upward. While scrolling through the app periodically, I noticed this woman's profile, which I liked. After reading her profile, I finally decided to reach out to her. I thought, "Let's see where this goes". Jenn responded back to me and we began messaging each other through the app. I then messaged Jenn my phone number so that we could have a real conversation over the phone (messaging through the app was not my preference). I wanted to hear her voice and actually get to know her. After talking on the phone (for hours), we then began video chatting. Jenn shared details about her life with me and I could feel she was a genuine person. She never pretended to be someone she was not. Galatians 5:22-23 tells us, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Jenn displayed Gods' character in many ways I observed. Before we met in person, we discussed how the whole fireworks scenes, when people meet, only happen in the movies. Cupcake, I think it is more fitting at this time that I share a few things with our readers. 1.) The first time we met, I surprised her by showing up for dinner at a restaurant she, Mac (her son), and her friend's family were meeting. After my shift at work, I hurried to Edmond, OK and she did not know I was coming (we discussed meeting the next day). After dinner, we went to her friend's house.. We talked for hours in her friends front yard, and while hugging, guess what? Fireworks began to go off (yes, it was near the 4th of July), yet God surely has a sense of humor. 2.) Jenn prayed that if this relationship was not of God, she did not want it. She wanted a man who would lead spiritually. I then called her the very next day, after being prompted by the Lord to pray every day with Jenn moving forward in our relationship. 3.) Jenn lives in another state, yet, when we would discuss the Sunday sermons from our churches, the sermons were often the same topic, or something we had already been studying or dealing with that week. 4.) No one gets up at 3:00 a.m. for 65 days straight in order to pray, read scripture, and talk with someone else. Yet, that's Jenn, and another ask and I'll tell. Jenn, I love you and Malachi. You are both so special. I know it is tough when you leave and tough when I leave. I want you to know, that soon, I will not have to leave anymore. We will never have to separate from each other again, except when it is time to go home to our heavenly Father. I can't wait to continue to love you, dying to myself, the way God intended for me to do. Thank you, for the blessing of love.
