Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Jennifer Rose and Leopold Peavy
New Haven is one of the most historic and culturally rich cities in the Northeast. We are excited for our guests to experience the excellent dining (including arguably the best pizza outside of Naples), art, nightlife, and history the city offers! Home to Yale University, all hotels and wedding-event venues are close to some of the best restaurants, museums, and nightlife in Connecticut: Try the original hamburger, view works of Picasso, Degas, Lichtenstein and more at the Yale University Art Gallery, decide which pizza place you enjoy most (Pepe's, Sally's, or Modern), take a stroll through the New Haven Green and Yale's scenic campus...you can't go wrong!

New Haven Green

250 Temple Street, New Haven, CT 06511

Want to explore the many shops, restaurants and bars New Haven has to offer? Start at the New Haven Green and take in Downtown New Haven!

Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana

157 Wooster Street, New Haven, CT 06511

Founded in 1925, Pepe's is a family restaurant that serves New Haven–style pizza, which is a variation on Neapolitan pizza. What sets it apart? A thin and crisp crust with the requisite char thanks to the coal oven, an odd and not quite circular shape and a chewy dough, created through a cold fermentation process. In New Haven, mozzarella ("mootz") isn't standard so make sure you ask for it, but not on the establishment's most famous pie: the white clam. Topped with freshly shucked clams, garlic, oregano, olive oil and grated Parmesan, it's the dish to order. Another classic is the sausage and roasted red peppers.

Sally's Apizza

237 Wooster Street, New Haven, CT 06511

Though Pepe's is the original, Sally's Apizza and its legion of passionate fans believe they've perfected the New Haven pie. Founded in 1938 by none other than Frank Pepe's very own nephew, Sal Consiglio, Sally's is located only a few feet away on Wooster street, producing one of the best pizza rivalries in all of the country.

Louis' Lunch

261 Crown Street, New Haven, CT 06511

The birthplace of the hamburger! The story of the first burger goes like this: In 1900, a man came into Louis' Lunch and said he wanted a quick bite to go. Proprietor Louis Lassen put ground beef between slices of bread, and the hamburger was born. DO NOT ASK FOR KETCHUP...but don't worry, there are plenty of signs to warn you :-)

BAR New Haven

254 Crown Street, New Haven, CT 06511

Downtown New Haven nightlife staple (with the best brick-oven mashed potato Pizza you will ever have!)

Yale University Art Gallery

1111 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT 06511

Yale Center for British Art

1080 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT 06511

Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library

121 Wall Street, New Haven, CT 06511

The library has some of its most prized possessions on display, including a copy of the Gutenberg Bible. Some of the library’s other collections include works by James M. Barrie, Joseph Conrad, Charles Dickens, Benjamin Franklin, Goethe, and many more. The library also presents temporary exhibits of books from its collection.

Yale Peboady Museum of Natural History

170 Whitney Avenue, New Haven, CT 06511

Located on Whitney Avenue at Yale University. Founded in 1866 by philanthropist George Peabody, it is one of the world’s oldest and largest natural history museums.

Modern Apizza

874 State Street, New Haven, CT 06511
, (203) 776-5306

Slightly less well-known than the other two giants (meaning shorter lines), Modern is more of a local joint that specializes in wood-fired pizzas -- as opposed to the coal-fired ones of Sally’s and Pepe’s -- with a smattering of fresh, artisanal toppings. Their Italian bomb pie (bacon, sausage, pepperoni, mushroom, onion, garlic, peppers) is a tour de force.

Barcelona Wine Bar

155 Temple Street, New Haven, CT 06511

Best wine and tapas spot in the city!

L'Orcio

806 State Street, New Haven, CT 06511

Most authentic Italian restaurant in the city--we love the homey atmosphere and family vibes!

Miya Sushi

68 Howe Street, New Haven, CT 06511

The world's first sustainable sushi restaurant--a must try for any sushi fan (and our favorite Sushi ANYWHERE!)

Union League Cafe

1032 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT 06511

Best French restaurant in New Haven and across from Yale University, the restaurant is located at the site of a former home of Roger Sherman who hosted American legends like George Washington in the late 1700's.

ZINC New Haven

964 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT 06510
, (203) 624-0507

ZINC boasts a prime location directly across from the historic New Haven Green and its sustainable, farm-to-table menu features delicious produce from local artisans including Liuzzi’s Cheese and Jones Apiaries. Expect innovative, contemporary American dishes like the slow-roasted baby ribs appetizer with honey hoisin glaze, peach salsa and pickled cucumber noodles, or the chili marinated Pacific black cod main with Szechuan pepper mussels, baby bok choy and bamboo rice.

Harvest Wine Bar & Restaurant

1104 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT 06510
, (203) 777-2500

Archie Moore's

188 1/2 Willow Street, New Haven, CT 06511
, (203) 773-9870

For our guests who want to catch NFL Sunday, Archie Moore wings are some of the best in the State.

For all the days along the way
