If you’re looking for a fun and different thing to do and want to explore other parts of the island then you can try the Pork Highway! We have yet to try it but it has been on our PR trip bucket list. If you like lechona, or want to try some local Puerto Rican food check it out! And report back to us!!! This is about an hour drive from San Juan
You’ll hear me throughout the island. I will regale with my beautiful sounds. Treat me with respect and leave me alone!
Another food recommendation. Jen and I have been here and have had delicious food. These are different restaurants and vendors that offer a wide variety of food and drinks. Behind the Kioskos there is a beach where you can spend the day with family friends or alone if you’ve had enough of us by then! This is about a 45 minute drive from San Juan
Depending on your time and your flexibility there is a bioluminescent bay in La Parguera. Be mindful as it is a 2 hour drive from San Juan at the southern part of the island. You can look into different tours that may be available
This one is on the east coast of the island in Fajardo! You can make a longer trip out of it and explore the islands of Culebra and Vieques as there is a ferry about 20 minutes away from Fajardo, in a town nearby called Ceiba. This is another bioluminescent bay and it is an hour east from San Juan.
In an island famous for its rum, you would be silly to miss a chance to go on a rum distillery tour. There are many to choose from and you can’t go wrong. Here at Ron de Barrilito you can explore Hacienda Santa Ana, tour the distillery and take a cocktail making class!
The name may ring a bell. I won’t get too in the weeds with the history because that is above my pay grade. But this is contention for one of the more famous bats…Batman, baseball bat, Bacardi bat. Here you can take a tour and learn about it or have drinks at the bar!
