Most couples have that "spot" that they feel is exlusively theirs to enjoy and has a special place in their hearts. We've had that spot since we were 15 years old. Growing up as a farmer's daugther, there were always places to explore. When Jake came into the picture, I (Jennifer) wanted to share that with him. After countless gator rides exploring woods and fields, we found ourselves always going to the same spot. We would spend hours talking, watching the sunset, or stargazing. I always loved that spot, but didn't realize just how special it was until June 15, 2019. On the day we got engaged, we had no plans (as far as I knew). We were both back in DeMotte visiting our families for Father's day. It was dreary and raining and we could not decide what we wanted to do for the day. After an afternoon of several changes of plans, my dad convinced us to drive out to the fields to check something out. For anyone who knows him or my family, that is not out of the ordinary so without any question, Jake and I take a drive. The rain had quit and we were able to walk to our "spot" (how perfect!). At this point, I still don't expect anything because this is somthing we have done so many times. When we were first driving around, as someone who loves watching the Bachelor, I was telling him that this would've been how I wanted my hometown date to be if I was on the show. With that conversation still on my mind, as he was getting down on one knee and me not realizing it was real, said "Oh it's too soon!" (Ironic because we have been together 7 years lol). Once I saw the ring and realized that Jake was on his knee, asking me to be his wife, I was in complete shock and crying tears of joy. Little did I know that Jake had known since high school that he was going to propose to me in that exact spot. We spent the night celebrating with family, staring at the ring, and soaking up this new, amazing stage of life we have entered!
