We technically met at the Azevedo's annual waffle breakfast, however Gavin doesn't seem to actually remember it. SO; we met at what is now our home church, Cottage Hill Church. Gavin's mom was good friends with Lianne, Sophie's mom, which ended up bringing us together. After going over Sophie's house with his mom several times, Gavin finally noticed Jenn and we got each other's social media.... Yes, Gavin actually slid into the DM's! Jenn was very adamant about Gavin coming to youth group with her and our church was going on the summer camp trip to Word of Life Island which Jenn invited him to. Thankfully, with a little bit of persuasion; Gavin caved and ended up going to the camp. Gavin had already asked Jenn out at that point so we were a couple heading to a Christian camp.. Gavin's perspective: So, I'll admit, at first I was not even close to the right mindset of where I wanted our relationship to go. When we had first met and started dating, I wasn't walking with the Lord and that showed in my motives. However, going to the Word of Life Island, Jenn challenged me greatly by saying "If you aren't a Christian, we can't date." I ended up rededicating my life to the Lord while there and she became my amazing accountability partner. Now, 4 years later we are leading worship in our home church and getting married! The Lord is good and has shown His favor in our relationship. Jenn's perspective: I've got to say, I was taking a risk with this one. I knew in my heart that Gavin was something special, but I met him in his rebellious stage of life. My intentions weren't exactly to slap him with a bible, but instead to show him the true hope and love that we have in Jesus; which he needed in that time. Through the grace of God, our story doesn't end in heartbreak but instead we are now looking forward to being Mr and Mrs Berkeley. We've had our trials and painful moments, but ultimately I believe that Jesus has truly done a work in our relationship. It's all His grace!
