Can we stay at another resort?

Answer

Yes, although non-resident guests are only allowed onto the resort at 4:30PM on the wedding day. Other nearby resorts: El Encanto All Inclusive Resort: $369/night Hacienda Encantada Resort & Residences: $179/night

A block of rooms are available at $650/night (with a three night minimum).

Is it safe to leave the resort?

Answer

This part of Mexico is considered to be very safe. Occasional issues are reported in the city of Cabo San Lucas (which has a bit of a spring break vibe).

How do we get from the airport to the resort?

Answer

The Auberge Esperanza is about a 30 minute drive from the SJD airport. Private transport, car rental, UBER/Lyft, and taxi cabs are all safe options.
