We both were looking for love and that special someone to share our lives together with. We had so many wonderful events happening around us, school, work, family, but that right person was missing from the picture. They say timing is everything and we couldn't agree more. We met in the winter months, shared warm fires together and was able to hold out to Spring and Summer where all the adventures began. We love to travel and so we planned our trips and took off. Getting to share those specials moments together, just the two of us, brought us together in ways we were never expecting. This is true love.
Every year Dan and his family take the journey down to Washington DC for the Marine Corps Marathon in October. We watch and meet the runners at several different mile points through the marathon to cheer everyone on! His father, brother-in-law and Dan run every year without fail! This year something very special happened the day of the race. The runners made it across the finish line and we were all so proud of their hard work and dedication. We then went back to the hotel to relax and change for dinner. The Payne famiy has the tradition of going to their favorite restaurant the day of the marathon for a delicious meal set back in the 1700s. As per tradition, the runners all stand in front of the tavern doors to take their historic picture together. Afterwards, Dan and I got together for our picture in front of the tavern. Dan looks at me, saying how much he loves me, gets down on one knee and asks "will you marry me?" I have never been so surprised and could not believe how lucky I am in this moment to find the man of my dreams. Of course I said, "YES!" and the rest in history...
