Two lonely souls during a pandemic went online in search of our missing puzzle pieces. Getting to know one another while social distancing had its challenges, but when we finally met in person, it's like we knew each other for years. We've been inseparable ever since.
From the beginning of getting to know one another, Dabar quickly learned how big Jennifer's LOVE for the Pittsburgh Steelers was. He learned of her having season tickets & going to games for years. Dabar loves football, but wasn't as dedicated to a team like Jennifer. His cousin has also been a Steelers fan for years so he was very familiar with Steelers Nation & had always admired the franchise. Jennifer promised him that she would bring him to a game & let him experience it for himself. In August, we went to the delayed 2020 Football Hall of Fame when Cowher & Polamalu were inducted. We stayed with CJ & Jerry who live in Canton, then Bee & Matt came in from Toledo. Jennifer's Steelers family quickly accepted Dabar into the "family". He was amazed at the amount of Steeler fans there and was immediately drawn in, waving his Terrible Towel proudly! The next day we drove to Pittsburgh & attended Steelers Training Camp at Heinz Field. He loved it all, especially the Great Hall and the HISTORY of this storied franchise. I think it was at that point that he was fully a part of Steeler Nation. We also attended 2 games this season together, including the home opener! This game everyone was even MORE excited since we had no home season in 2020 due to Covid. The Steelers family was back together again! Dabar was so impressed with all of the different tailgates / costumes / vehicles just screaming the BLACK & GOLD and the LOVE for the Steelers. When we talked about getting married I said one thing I wanted was to have Terrible Wedding towels with our name/date. An old coworker had one at his desk 5 years ago and I said if I ever get married, I want those. Since we had the date & location picked out, we went ahead and ordered them for a fun favor. Then Dabar asked me "Do you want to have a Steelers wedding?" He was serious and I LOVED the idea so we the planning began. #HEREWEGO
When we first met, we both had this "thing" about numbers. Before we knew each other, we both believed it's good luck when we you see numbers like 11:11 or 2:22, 444, etc and would make a wish or have a positive thought when saw these. Well we met on 11/22 and then throughout our relationship, whichever of us sees the clock at one of those times, we text the other 333 (or whatever # it is) followed by I love you. So it's kind of our thing and with 2022 coming up and we knew we wanted to get married, 2/22/22 just was so fitting for us.
