How We Met

Music City meets South Cajun - Words from the Bride

5 years ago, Cuong and Jennifer met through a distant Aunt who worked as a nail technician at Jennifer's mom's nail salon in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the time. Cuong's Aunt would mention countless of times to Jennifer about how great of a person and son he was to his family, but Jennifer never budged; she wanted to find love at her own terms. Two years passed with no luck finding her soulmate, Jennifer decided to get out of her comfort zone; She finally gave in and forwarded her number to Cuong's Aunt. That same day, his Aunt proceeded with Jennifer's number to Cuong's mom. She then passed it along to her good friend from California who reached out to Jennifer with pictures of Cuong and his lovely family. During the process, Jennifer began to have second thoughts about her decision because it was all so sudden(what was this? Arranged-marriage??). During this same time, Cuong's mom was consistently trying to get him to go along with the plan and reach out. He would repeatedly reject her and say no. Persistency does pay off and he finally gave in to make her happy. That night, Jennifer received a phone call from an unknown person who happened to be Cuong, but she did not answer. Followed by a voicemail, it was Cuong introducing himself. Two months of talking and texting, Cuong and his parents decided to come to Louisiana to visit his distant aunt, and Jennifer for the first time. The rest was history...

Beignets, with Love

11 . 15 . 12

What struck Jennifer that night when Cuong and her first met was when he asked Jennifer's mom for permission to take her out. They settled at Coffee Call, a local beinget cafe in Baton Rouge. T'was a night to remember.

Love is Patient, Love is Kind

Love Isn't always rainbows & butterflies

It wasn't easy. Jennifer and Cuong maintained a long distance relationship for an ongoing of three years. Jennifer moved to Kansas City, MO shortly after they first met in Louisiana. Due to the hardship of having a distance relationship, they broke it off for a whole year before realizing that they were meant for each other all along. Jennifer moved to Nashville in 2017 and she loves every single moment spent with Cuong, his family, and friends. They also quickly adopted a pet dog, Duke! Cuong and Jennifer's love has never been stronger!

The Proposal

10 . 20 . 18 - Words from the Groom

Cuong had been looking for the perfect ring for about 5 months with the hopes to propose to Jennifer in the Fall. It was the weekend after Kerry & Kayla's wedding (which they were both involved in) and right before Halloween. There was so much going on that Jennifer never saw it coming. Ever since Jennifer moved to Nashville, she had always wanted to visit the Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, but had never made the time. Cuong saw this as the ideal place to propose to the love of his life. Cheeckwood had their October fall pumpkin theme going and it was the optimal time to visit. Cuong invited a few other couples that they regularly hang out with to fool Jennifer into thinking that this was a normal Saturday. After walking around for over an hour, Cuong finally found a perfect spot to make the proposal. As they walked through the Japanese Zen Garden to take pictures, Cuong got on one knee and gave Jennifer the surprise of her life. There were some magical words said, but Jennifer does not remember a thing since she was in shock. She was frozen. No words said, no tears shed, and pure silence. She eventually said YES and they gave each other the warmest hug ever. They would then go to a local park and pop several bottles of champagne to celebrate!
