Jennifer and I both attended school at Mount Marty in Yankton South Dakota. During our freshman year Jennifer really liked me. In my defense I considered myself inexperienced in the dating cues and hints. Jennifer and I would hang from time to time and we knew who each other were. Our Senior year of college is when I really wanted to go out with Jennifer and hang out with her all the time. I gave it a shot and invited her to my graduation party in Yankton. Jennifer showed up and I was so happy she was there. I was so nervous this was the day I wanted to ask her out. After talking with my mom she told me I knew you had a really big smile on your face and go for it. I asked Jennifer if she wanted to go for a walk around Gavin's Point Dam. She said sure. While we were walking and talking I saw a beautiful area with a tree and the sun was shinning through, I told Jennifer how beautiful I thought she was and was wondering if she would be my girlfriend. She stopped, paused for about ten seconds and said okay... three and a half years later we are engaged and wouldn't change anything.

Jennifer and I were up at Gavin's Point Dam. I wanted to show here something really beautiful that my roommate and I found. My roommate John and his girlfriend Janaya came with us so we could show Jenifer this beautiful tree and how the sun shines through it. Jennifer and I were walking ahead of John and Janaya, and before this I told John when I said "this tree" he would distract her. When I said look at this tree John asked Jenifer something and she looked at him, but then back at me so I couldn't pop down on a knee. John again tried to distract Jennifer while I hopped down on a knee. When she turned back around she was so excited she ended up tackling me to the ground before I could ask her the question !After Jennifer helped me up, I asked her if she would make me the happiest man and marry me. Jennifer with the biggest smile on her face said YES.
