LAS VEGAS, NEVADA

The Proposal - Jen's version

What happens in Vegas...

When Andrew proposed, it was a gorgeous (& hot) summer day in Las Vegas. We had just enjoyed a long weekend of fun with family and friends. Sunday morning everyone was getting ready to go to breakfast, my sister came to my room and asked if I was going to do my hair and get ready (In hindsight, I now realize she was trying to encourage me to look presentable for the occasion) but of course, I was like nope just gonna rock this Rolling Stones T-shirt and a messy bun (At least she tried lol). After breakfast we said our "goodbyes" to everyone. It just so happened to be our Anniversary, Andrew said he had a gift for me and led me blindfolded (eventually just picking me up to carry my stumbling self the rest of the way) to a coy pond filled with dozens of beautiful fish and a golden rose entrapped in glass waiting for me. I assumed this was the surprise, so during his spiel I kept responding with “baby I love you so much too!”. Then, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was the easiest question I ever had to answer because I knew from the very moment I met Andrew, it was supposed to be him. I was overcome with pure happiness and so much love in my heart, I of course said yes! After some kisses, hugs, and tears of joy (I’m an emotional creature) little did I know he had arranged another surprise… My beloved siblings, brother & sister in law, and cousins that were hiding inside, along with Andrew's wonderful mother Jodi, came running out cheering! I was shocked to see they hadn't left & were all in on it! We celebrated together with a pizza pool party and the evening ended with a beautiful Las Vegas sunset. A perfect day I will cherish forever.

The Proposal - Andrew's version

Okay so that is Jen's version of things which I would say is accurate but from my POV it was a little more of a spectacle riddled with close calls and wrangling Jen and her brother in from jumping off a building in Vegas... Literally... So, it was the weekend of Michael and Jordans bachelor/bachelorette party ( I know I purposed on someone's else's weekend but how else was I going to have her family there to surprise her? Get off my back!) Anyway, I had planned on proposing this weekend and told her sister so that she could help me plan the ambush. But low and behold after all the planning Jen's brother had the wonderful idea of scaling a hotel on the same day I was going to ask her. So I had to be the bad guy and tell Jen we could'nt do that cause we had plans with my mom. NOT TRUE. So from there everything Jen said is spot on. Except for the actual proposal part, every guy on earth plans what they are going to say myself included but in the moment I crumbled like a mumbling idiot. All the poetic sentiments disappeared from my mind and I just repeated "you know I love you so much" over and over again until finally I got down on one knee. Oh and BTW they never tell you this so I will... There is no marking on the top of a ring box, so you don't know if you're going to open it upside down. When is someone gonna take care of that, like would it kill you to put a notch on that thing? That was the thought going through my head as I got down to one knee and reached for the ring. "What if it's upside down? What if while adjusting I drop it in this coy pond? Luckily for me none of that happened and SHE SAID YES! Now the rest of Jens POV is spot on so I'm done. Thanks for reading. See you at the wedding!
