"How we Met"

Geoff and I met on Match.com in 2015. We went out on a perfectly lovely date, and discovered a mutual love of fun cars and concerts. We both have great memories from our first date, but it was simply the right person at the wrong time. For the next couple of years, we both continued on our separate journeys of growth and self-discovery. The universe did, however, make sure that we were always "aware" of each other by orchestrating events where we would randomly bump into the other person. The first time this happened, I was out with two of my best friends, Rachel and Cody. We were having brunch one morning downtown at a place called Whiskey Street. This was several months after Geoff and I had that first date. We were having a great time, as friends do, when I noticed someone I recognized sitting many tables over. It was Geoff, and he was also enjoying a nice brunch with his sister Katie, and his parents - John and Ruth. I immediately interrupted our conversation and tried to subtly point him out to my friends, reminding Rachel about this guy I'd been on a date with that we'd talked about months before. I was pretty sure he'd recognized me too at that point, but just to be certain, I decided I needed to use the powder room...this walk passed directly in front of their table and would ensure Geoff would see me. I wasn't sure why I felt drawn to do that at the time, but it makes sense now :). The second time we had an accidental rendezvous was another handful of months later. I was at a concert with a group of work friends at Saltair. This was a huge event with thousands of people. I was up on the second level making my way through the huge crowd when I thought I saw Geoff waiting in line at the bar. Sure enough, when I asked him later that evening if it was him I'd seen, it was. Fast forward to June of 2017, when I suggested we get together for a catch up drink. It was finally the right person and the right time, and we've been madly in love ever since.

"The Proposal"

Geoff and I had a trip to Hawaii planned for November of 2020. Like many people, covid forced us to postpone the trip to a safer time. We were finally able to go on the trip in February of 2021. On our first morning waking up in paradise, we readied ourselves for our first activity, beautiful scenic drive down to the Pololu Valley Lookout and a hike down to the black sand beach. There were a lot of people, but we made our way down the winding paths, catching glimpses of the breathtaking beaches waiting for us at the bottom. The black sand beach was like nothing I'd ever seen before, and we had great time exploring while making our way to a more private spot farther down the beach. Once we were alone, Geoff and I were taking in the all the beauty, and enjoying the sounds of the ocean together, when I saw him drop down to one knee and produced a ring box out of no where (I still have NO idea how he hid the ring box during the hike). He said wonderful things about our amazing life, and asked me to be his forever. I was thrilled, and emotional (no surprise) and it was an absolute YES from me.
