We didn’t meet early in life and we both doubted if the perfect ‘one’ was ever going to come along. Not surprisingly, God showed us his plan and it was better than we could have ever dreamed of or prayed for! Now, we begin our journey together as one; step by step, side by side, hand in hand, and heart to heart. Oh, the places we will go!
Corey and I both had been trying out the online dating thing before we were brought together. I was skeptical about meeting someone online versus through the natural crossing of paths. Corey had his profile "out there" and wasn’t feeling hopeful either. I was almost at the point of taking my profile down permanently because I had been on several dates that I would call major flops! However, right at that instant, I saw Corey’s profile and realized we were a 96% match. I noticed he and I had spent an extensive amount of time answering the profile questions, therefore our compatibility percentage had true value! I felt hopeful and extremely curious. His profile picture was taken in Gruene, Texas, while eating an ice cream cone at the local ice cream shop. I do not remember mine. Two things occurred to me: first, this guy is a Texan at heart, (which is a requirement for any native Texan girl) and secondly, he likes ice cream, which is a requirement no matter who you are! I sent the first message to Corey and within about an hour, he replied . We messaged off and on throughout the day and set up our first phone call, on a Friday night. We talked on the phone for 3 hours and we literally had to make ourselves say goodbye. It was one of those conversations where you say goodbye, but don't really stop talking. I can remember falling asleep with a smile on my face knowing he was someone special. During that three hour conversation he explained he had a date that following night with someone he had seen a few times, but it wasn't anything serious. I wasn’t excited about that news, but I understood we hadn’t even met yet and I appreciated his honesty. The next morning my phone rang and it was Corey. He called to say he had cancelled the date with the other girl and the rest, well its history! We had our first date and here we are almost a year and a half later, madly in love and ready to say our "I do's."
