It all started when Andrew and I first met. We met on coffee meets bagel and messaged each other about attending a renaissance fair where we each saw two of the renaissance role players get engaged. It was a strange coincidence considering it was at two different fairs. Thinking it was a good sign, I suggested axe throwing in Somerville, MA as our first date. It was later I realized that Andrew was in Manchester, NH as opposed to Boston. I thought it was another good sign that he was willing to make a trek all the way to Somerville for our first date! I am thankful he did. Fast forward to our proposal story: Andrew and his parents brought me on vacation to the Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod. Though my birthday was a week away and Andrew and I had discussed getting married, I suspected Andrew would propose closer to Fall or Winter. Andrew’s mom, Cynthia, asked me to scout out picturesque spots around the Chatham Bars Inn to take photos for the Remec family Christmas card. There was a gazebo overlooking the ocean that caught our eye. The next day, we spent time on the beach. I took a beach nap while Andrew’s dad, Marko, was given the task by Andrew and Cynthia to keep me on the beach while they prepared for Andrew to propose. This was not a difficult task for Marko, as I slept obliviously on the beach with a towel on my head. I got ready for dinner and the supposed Christmas card photoshoot that evening. I waited in the gazebo while Cynthia and Marko attended to an “emergency” in their hotel room (they were looking out the window while Andrew proposed to get pictures). Andrew said he had an early birthday gift for me and I waited for him to get it from his car. When he came back, he had a wrapped gift in the shape of a headband (he knows I love headbands). I unwrap it and see the inside has writing in sharpie : Will you marry me? I look up and see Andrew on one knee, ring in hand. Without a doubt, I gave my excited answer: yes!
