The Mount Washington Cog Railway is located about 6 miles from the Mount Washington Hotel, an easy 10–15 minute drive to the base station in Bretton Woods. As the world’s first mountain-climbing cog railway, it offers a distinctive ride up Mount Washington with expansive views along the ascent. The round-trip experience takes about three hours, including time at the summit.
Experience the stunning views of Mount Washington and the Presidential Range aboard the Bretton Woods Skyway Gondola. This scenic 12-minute ride takes you to the summit with panoramic views in every direction. At the top, Rosebrook Lodge offers two dining options. You can book online and the gondola leaves from the base of Bretton Woods Ski Area, directly across the street from the Mount Washington Hotel.
Arethusa Falls via Bemis Brook is a favorite for many visiting Crawford Notch State Park. This trail leads you to what is widely considered the tallest single-drop waterfall in New Hampshire. This trail starts on Arethusa Falls Road just off Crawford Notch Road/US Route 302. This path keeps you close to the rushing water and lets you see smaller, beautiful spots like Fawn Pool and Coliseum Falls before you even reach the main event.
A favorite local brewery of ours in Bethlehem, NH about 20 mins from the Mount Washington Hotel. Great beer, food, and cocktails.
R.I.P. :( The Old Man of the Mountain Historic Site is located in Franconia Notch State Park, about a 25-minute drive from the Mount Washington Hotel. The site commemorates New Hampshire’s iconic rock formation that once rose naturally from Cannon Mountain and includes walking paths, viewing areas, and exhibits.
