Mission de Tolosa
Named after Saint Louis, Bishop of Toulouse, it was founded fifth in the chain in 1772. Exhibits focus on the history of the Spanish missionaries and the culture of native Indian people of this area.
Farmers' Market
Locals come for fresh produce & street food. Restaurants bring their specialties to outdoor stands. Live music adds to the festive ambience. This is held on Thursday from 6pm to 9pm, except in bad weather and holidays.

Flying a Glider
This is 1.5 hours from SLO. They have experienced FAA-certified pilots and a professional ground crew. Starts at $185.
Point San Luis Lighthouse
If you’re looking for a hike with abundant ocean views, check out this 3.6-mile round trip hike to the Lighthouse. Space is limited on the docent-led hikes, so make a reservation on the PG&E webpage for Pecho Coast Trail. Tours are at 9AM on Wednesdays (20 hikers) and Saturdays (40 hikers). Hikes finish by 1 p.m.
Riding ATVs
The Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area allows visitors with OHVs (off-highway vehicles) to drive right on the beach. Other activities here are surfing, horseback riding, fishing, bird-watching, and camping. 2 hour rentals are usually $50 (e.g. BJ's ATV rentals).
Hearst Castle
This National Historic Landmark was conceived by William Randolph Hearst, the publishing tycoon. The estate boasts 165 rooms and 127 acres of gardens, terraces, pools and walkways.
Solvang
This historic Danish village of Solvang is 1.5 hours from SLO. Indulge in authentic Danish pastries, and stroll through the village to admire the old-world European architecture and shops.
Paragliding
This is 1.5 hours from SLO. For $275, enjoy a 25 Minute flight. Glide from a 700 ft mountain, out over the hillside, with a landing on the beach. All instructors are rated tandem instructors with the United States Hanggliding and Paragliding Association (USHPA).
Ziplining
Fly over the beautiful terrain of Santa Margarita. The tour includes 6 distinct ziplines that spans more than 7,500 total feet. Total time is 2 hours. Cost $119 per person.
