How did we meet?

Luke and I met at UW-Whitewater in 2016 during our freshman year of college. I lived on the same dorm floor as his good friends (Jake and Mitch) and future roommates. I met Luke in passing one night as he wandered or should I say stumbled down the hallway. He stopped right at my door, extended his hand, and introduced himself as the notorious “Kevin Wagler”. I later learned that I met Luke’s alter ego that night. Flash forward to September 2017, the beginning of our Sophomore year of college. I visited what was now Jake, Mitch, and Luke’s house for a bonfire. Luke and I sat on the same couch and I met the real Luke for the first time. We bonded over our love for dogs and we exchanged pictures of our pups back home. I left that night and woke up to several follow notifications from Luke. He had added me on Facebook and Snapchat, and followed me on Instagram and Twitter. He successfully grabbed my attention and we planned our first date! We went on a walk through the disc golf park in Whitewater. After our walk, we sat down on a hill and talked for hours. He walked me home and that night I knew he was someone special. We spent many nights together watching movies and getting to know each other. On October 29th, 2017 we made it official!

The “Yes” Day.

On January 28th, 2023, Luke planned a wonderful dinner at Brandywine, our favorite restaurant in Cedarburg, WI. There was a snow storm that night, so after dinner we carefully drove ourselves home so we could cozy up and watch a movie. When we got home, I sat down on the couch and Luke proceeded to look at our bookshelf. He told me that we needed to go through our books because “we have way too many”. This didn’t seem strange to me, because Luke LOVES decluttering, so I just went along with it. He pulled out the custom picture book he made me for our one year anniversary. This book was a love letter to me and it showed all of the wonderful memories we experienced in the first year of our relationship. Towards the end of the book there was even a page that included a picture of him on one knee and a line that stated “I know I will be doing this one day”. In this book I had kept some of the sweet messages he had written me over the course of our relationship. Luke has always left me little notes that say “u cute :)” so I can find them at random points in my day. As I finished looking through the book, he handed me another “u cute :)” note. However, this one had more writing on the back. I flipped it over and the note said “will you marry me?”. I looked up and saw Luke on one knee. To say this was the easiest yes of my life is an understatement. ❤️
