Get your boots on! The Honky Tonk bars on Broadway are Nashville’s most entertaining site. The beer and the Wild Turkey are flowing, live music is playing in every bar, and this place is just pure fun. Our favorites were Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, Robert’s Western World, The Stage, and the Big Bang Dueling Piano Bar.
No trip to Nashville would be complete without experiencing the radio show that “made country music famous.” Since 1925, the Opry has been mixing music, comedy skits and live commercials into its down-home Saturday night broadcast. Today, it features contemporary artists like Alan Jackson and Brad Paisley sharing the bill with such legends as Connie Smith, Stonewall Jackson and Little Jimmie Dickens (at 92, the oldest living Opry star).
The home of the Opry for over thirty years, this beautiful historic venue still hosts some of the biggest names in music. You can tour the venue during the day and learn the history of the place. Or keep an eye out for what shows are playing during your visit and grab a ticket. Even some of the smaller shows they host are worth a chance to see a performance in this historic venue.
The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is a must see! It is home to the historic RCA Studio B and Hatch Show Print, and offers three dining and four retail options. Tour the studio where Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and many more legends recorded some of the world's greatest hits!
If you’re looking to venture a little farther and love whiskey - Lynchburg, Tennesee, is only about 90 minutes from Nashville. This tiny, dry town is the home of the top-selling American whiskey in the world—Jack Daniel’s. Every year, Lynchburg attracts over 300,000 visitors looking to see how Tennessee whiskey is made.
For a late lunch, grab Nashville’s famous Hot Chicken!
Biscuits, grits, sweet potato pancakes, country ham. If you’re looking for a traditional southern-style breakfast with big ol’ helpin's, this is the place. Opened in 1951 by Lon and Annie Loveless, the restaurant is a Nashville tradition. And stick around on Wednesday evenings for the variety show Music City Roots, the Lovelesses’ own mini-version of the Opry.
This one's for Bobby Jackson!
