Once an industrial hub, Scott’s Addition has transformed into one of Richmond’s trendiest neighborhoods—full of breweries, cideries, and some of the city's best eats. It’s even earned Richmond a spot on USA Today’s list of the Top 10 Beer Scenes in the country. Some of our favorite breweries include Väsen, The Veil, Starr Hill, and Ardent. When it comes to food, you can’t go wrong with ZZQ (for amazing barbecue), Stella’s Market (for Greek-inspired bites), LUNCH.SUPPER! (for Southern comfort food), or Lucky AF (for sushi and cocktails). Scott's Addition is walkable from the Courtyard Marriott Scott's Addition.
Brown’s Island is a popular riverfront park in downtown Richmond with plenty to explore. Walk, bike, or run along the trails and pathways, enjoy scenic views of Belle Isle and the Manchester Bridge, or find a spot to relax with a picnic. Looking to get out on the water? Rent a kayak or paddleboard from Riverside Outfitters and paddle through the James River. The island features public art installations, and the nearby Canal Walk is lined with colorful street art worth checking out.
Carytown is one of Richmond’s most walkable and fun neighborhoods—full of quirky charm, local shops, and great food. It’s all about small, locally owned spots, so whether you’re in the mood to browse indie bookstores, pop into unique boutiques, or grab a coffee or bite to eat, there’s something for everyone. It also holds a special place in our story—our first date was at The Jasper, a cozy little speakeasy tucked away on the strip (highly recommend the cocktails!).
The Fan is a historic, artsy neighborhood that stretches out from the edge of VCU’s campus—and it definitely gives off that creative, lived-in vibe. It’s packed with beautiful old row houses, massive murals, neighborhood barbershops, coffee roasters, and more than 80 one-of-a-kind restaurants and bars. There’s also live music at local spots if you’re looking for a night out. Start your exploring on Main Street, where you’ll find tons of great restaurants, cafés, and local hangouts. We used to live in The Fan and absolutely loved it—there’s just something about the neighborhood’s charm that stays with you.
